October 11, 2023 - The saying “time flies when you’re having fun!” rings true for Ashley Goldberg, who joined the company over a decade ago as a project setup/CAD coordinator. Ashley began working with Doug Matern and Ryan Strandquest on various projects and her interest in mechanical engineering grew, so she enrolled at the University of Alabama, where she received her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Over the years, Ashley rose through the ranks from Mechanical Engineer to Sr. Project Manager. Today, she oversees Matern’s entire Mechanical Engineering Department for Education. 

September 27, 2023 - Trains Magazine published an article on 9/25 highlighting the new Brightline rail station at the Orlando Airport. The article focuses on Matern Professional Engineering's innovative approach to building the Brightline station terminal. These techniques create an unmatched passenger experience with efficient luggage handling, seamless integration into Orlando's culture, and a spacious, modern feel. 

September 6, 2023 - An article published in Engineering News-Record announced that Matern Professional Engineering has completed work on the Orlando International Airport’s Brightline station, allowing passengers on the high-speed rail network to directly access the airport. Millions of passengers will use this rail-air travel connection at the rapidly growing MCO airport. Matern’s work entailed integrating the rail network directly into the airport’s infrastructure in cooperation with Borrelli + Partners. 

September 13, 2023 - In an article published 8/14 in School Construction News, Ryan Strandquest, LEED AP, President of Matern Professional Engineering,  writes how, despite enjoying a great deal of sun, Florida currently produces only 6% of its energy from renewable sources. Despite such a paltry sum, Florida ranks fourth among all states in terms of solar and renewable energy production. Ryan advises that school construction can move toward net zero by taking advantage of renewable energy incentives in a path that is economically viable.   

August 10, 2023 - At Matern, we put people first—and we have for 40 years! Accordingly, we look forward to celebrating our team’s hard work at our annual company picnic, on August 19 at Wekiva Island. This natural springs paradise, located just north of Orlando, offers fun activities for the entire family, including paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, and horseshoes. A catered meal will be provided for Matern’s employees and their families. 

June 5, 2023 - President Ryan Strandquest published an article in Building Enclosure Magazine on 6/5. The article highlights the growing demand for obtaining net zero in educational facilities and overviews smart design strategies to approach this goal.
