Elevating Women in Engineering with Ashley Goldberg, Sr. PM

October 11, 2023 - The saying “time flies when you’re having fun!” rings true for Ashley Goldberg, who joined the company over a decade ago as a project setup/CAD coordinator. Ashley began working with Doug Matern and Ryan Strandquest on various projects and her interest in mechanical engineering grew, so she enrolled at the University of Alabama, where she received her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Over the years, Ashley rose through the ranks from Mechanical Engineer to Sr. Project Manager. Today, she oversees Matern’s entire Mechanical Engineering Department for Education.

September 6, 2023 - An article published in Engineering News-Record announced that Matern Professional Engineering has completed work on the Orlando International Airport’s Brightline station, allowing passengers on the high-speed rail network to directly access the airport. Millions of passengers will use this rail-air travel connection at the rapidly growing MCO airport. Matern’s work entailed integrating the rail network directly into the airport’s infrastructure in cooperation with Borrelli + Partners

Net Zero Design for Schools to Combat Rising Energy Costs

September 13, 2023 - In an article published 8/14 in School Construction News, Ryan Strandquest, LEED AP, President of Matern Professional Engineering,  writes how, despite enjoying a great deal of sun, Florida currently produces only 6% of its energy from renewable sources. Despite such a paltry sum, Florida ranks fourth among all states in terms of solar and renewable energy production. Ryan advises that school construction can move toward net zero by taking advantage of renewable energy incentives in a path that is economically viable.
